Welcome to...

Conceptually, HLAerobatics is both an art and a science. HLAerobatics uses radio controlled hand launch airplanes (mostly gliders) with consistent aerobatics from hand launch as the primary goal. In the practice of HLAerobatics we try to extract all possible performance from both the pilot and the vehicle. Landing the model in the hand (catching), instead of "landing out", is just one good example of piloting performance.

The Hand Launch Aerobatics web site is for people of all ages. We don't put any content on this site that we wouldn't want our own young children to see, and we encourage our children to visit this website. HLAerobatics nearly always involves model airplanes performing extreme maneuvering at low altitude and/or in close proximity to one's self, such as catching the model. Although some may consider such practices non-conservative and/or unsafe, HLAerobatics may be performed quite safely using the correct equipment and instruction, by physically fit pilots.

Do not attempt HLAerobatics without the proper model, without sufficient instruction or while in poor physical condition, otherwise personal injury and damage to your model airplane may result. Safety is no accident, so make the effort to educate yourself and find help whenever possible. This way you may always leave the flying site or the shop in good health with a working model.
